FTP problems after installing NetGear 314 router...

The router has port 21 default set to FTP, but I can't get ONTO someone's FTP, and I also can't set one up either. Any suggestions? I've tried making my FTP a different port, but it always stalls at the "LIST"...seems like it's using other ports, but I really don't know.

Lots of people bought the NetGear from CompUSA, so hopefully someone can assist me.

Which firmware do you have? If you have 3.24 and below, go into the filters menu (21, I believe). There is a filter #3 there for FTP_WAN, etc. There is a filter for FTP and by default, it drops the packet. You must change this to "forward".

Also, in menu 15 (SUA), have port 21 forwarded to the machine you want the FTP hosted on. With firmware 3.25, you don't need to worry about filters in menu 21, just menu 15.

Alright, sounds good...thanx for the help. (Although, I don't remember seeing the filter's page, but I'll look)
