FTP keeps disconnecting

when i'm wireless, my FTP session keeps getting disconected. the wireless connection itself stays up, but FTP hangs/times out and i have to control-c to get out and relogin to the server again.

can anyone suggest what i can look at to resolve this annoying issue?
 
i would if i could ... but i can't. i *have* to use wireless. in anycase, the wireless connection is *stays up* ... i just get disconnected from ftp. i can easily relogin.
 
its either a 5mb or 10mb file. after repeated downloads, the ftp session becomes unresponsive and eventually times out.
