FTP and Firewalls

here's the situation, maybe someone can help me with this.

i'm on pacbell DSL, which is PPPoE. i just got in on the SMC Barricade Router deal, but now i've got problems with my FTP through the firewall. the port is 321, and everyone can log into it fine (i enabled it on the Virtual Server setting and set the allowed FTP ip on the router). however the problem is that no one can list anything, no directories, files, anything. entering into passive mode doesn't seem to help either. i haven't changed the permissions on the ftp, i'm assuming there's a setting or something i haven't quite figured out. it seems to be problematic when others on a firewall try to use the FTP. my friend has the exact same problem, but when people non-firewalled login to his ftp they have no problems. most if not all the people who use my ftp is is a firewall, this makes it quite problematic- there's no point to the ftp if no one can use it.

anyone ? help 🙂

Read up on this section from the ipfilter how-to document. It doesn't exactly apply to your situation, but it may give you some ideas on why ftp isn't working and how to fix it. I've never set up ftp to work through the Barricade, so I wouldn't know what to do, but I would imagine that you will have to mess around in the "trigger ports" section. Good luck.
