Tennessee has had a "do not call" list for 2 years now. Its has worked great.

I don't think AT is the sole reason for their server going down.... If anything this should be a hint to telemarketing companies of how badly they're hated.

Must be the *ahem* ATOT effect again. Yeah. That's it.

That or the "everyone in the USA going there effect" :)

Which state? I signed up for the NY list a few months back and I thought I read that it applies nationally. Do I have to sign up for this one too ?
Well I found the answer to my own question, thanks for worrying so much though.

How your state's list interacts with this national list

You're welcome.

I know Ky will forward #s to the Federal list.

I wonder if you're in a state that doesn't have a state list yet could one of the states that does?

I keep re-reading your last question and I can't understand it.

LOL, I get "I wonder if you're in a state that doesn't have a state list yet"...
But "could one of the states that does" throws me for a loop. Could they what?!?!

guess that was a big ambiguous :)   Oh...I left out a word or two...DOH....stupid brain.

Ok...you live in, say, Utah, which does not have a statewide no-call list. You go to the Ky site and enter your phone number. Ky then sends its list of numbers to the Feds. You then get on the Fed list w/o having to deal with the Fed website

Perhaps, but they may have some way to weed out area codes that are not in Utah.

Site is up, but it's getting hammered. I registered, but when I got to the final submit page, I had to leave it open in a separate browser window for fifteen minutes before it accepted my info.

Done. Holy crap, I've never seen a site get hammered so hard! It's like ATOT, Slashdot, Fark, Lockergnome, User Friendly, and every blog on the web linking to them at the same time!

Well, the fact that the website is listed on just about every major news channel might give that effect ;)

W:QW!

From CNN.com

The federal government today launched a national "do-not-call" registry aimed at stopping most telemarketing phone calls to people. By 2:30 p.m. EDT, the Federal Trade Commission said, 635,000 phone numbers had been registered. Officials said they expect 60 million people to sign up.

I've yet to get an email, and I registered twice, using two different email addresses.

Edit Got two out of three confirmation emails since I posted this. One more to go...

Edit II Got it! All set now :)

I've been on the wisconsin no call list for awhile now and it's great. It cut down the phone traffic dramatically, especially during dinner time.
