Fscking CBS...

Go figure....they have a good portion of the NFL playoff games. And the Superbowl.

But I can't get the station. There is no CBS station in my area that is able to be picked up by an antenna. I tried going through an appeal process with DirectTV to get a CBS station from the east coast or the west coast available to me, but the local CBS station that I can't get denied me because of retared broadcasting laws.

The only way I can get it is through Mediacom...but their prices are asinine and I'm already a subscriber to DirectTV.

So alas...I miss a good chunk of the NFL playoffs.

BAH!

CBS is the network responsible for getting all the networks pulled from DirecTV for the vast majority of viewers. The original rules governing this I understand to be something called a "Grade B Contour" which theoretically says whether you are in a stations broadcast area. Supposedly this was defined back in the early days of TV when snowy pictures were acceptible. The whole thing is a travesty. There is no reason I should not be able to watch west coast broadcasts on my satellite when technology now exists making such things possible. This is just one more reason I live to see the day when the 3 major networks finally collapse due to their luddite views.

That would suck so much. A bar around you would probably have Sunday Ticket, if you were so inclined.

It just irks the piss out of me. The CBS station that is *supposed* to service me is about 30 miles north of where I live. And to make matters worse, it has most of it's equipment set up to service another community 50 miles north of that. So all the people in my area are screwed. We've got an area of close to 100,000 people that can't get a CBS broadcast without subscribing to Cable service.

Since I detest the cable company in this area, I'm hosed. Reading what you posed makes my blood boil even more.

Medicom has a monopoly on services in this area and it sucks. They won't raise speeds or lower prices on cable internet because there is no competition🙁

Aye. In fact, they raised prices around here. It's upwards of $85 for the "premium" digital cable package. And that doesn't include cable internet. That's another $45.

Pffft. Another $5 through DirectTV gets me roughly 4 times the premium movie channels and ton more other stations.

Wow, I actually get 2 feeds of 4 major networks (Fox, NBC, CBS and ABC) through my cable. Both New York and Hartford feeds. The funny thing is, one has slightly sharper picture quality and the other has better sound.

I hear ya man, are you talking about KGAN?

That's the station I'm supposed to get as well.

Yep. It's also annoying because I'd like to be able to watch CSI but can't 🙁

DeRusto - where are you located at?

I believe sunday ticket only covers regular season games.

Damn, I can't believe they denied your appeal. My parent's appeal was approved for all stations for Dish.
