Dammit.. How do I get rid of fleas? What works?

I have 1 cat, and inside cat, and once in awhile I let him out on my small screened-in patio. I have been diligently using Frontline Plus ($$$) every 30 days. The package said it will "break the chain", but apparently, it's not working.

Any tips?

None other than frontline/topspot/advantix. Had 2 dogs and a cat in my apartment. Started using the topical drops and within 3 months there wasn't another flea. Still have the one dog and I think I've pulled less than 10 fleas off him in 5 years. I use the drops 9 months a year (no need during winter).

..there's some kind of new flea juju out. Put a few drops of whatever it is on the animal's back and it somehow stops/kills/scares em all away but who knows what it's doing to the animal. Not that fleas are any better when you consider all the juju they carry in their saliva.

Flea bombs FTW?

My girlfriend's cat gave us a flea problem once and we "bombed" our apartment a few times and it seemed to work.

Ok - Thanks for the replies - but some may not have noticed..

I use Frontline Plus on my cat.

What chemical/treatment can I get to get rid of the fleas in my apartment?

You guys suck. :|

Put the cat on Program and Advantage. You apply them both to the cat behind the neck where he/she can't lick easily. One kills fleas and the other kills the eggs IIRC or does something to break the reproductive cycle.

Combined you should be flea free within a month or so. Keep it up for a few months though.

Getting the fleas off your cats is one thing, getting them out of your carpet is another.
There are several types of carpet insecticides that you just sprinke on your carpet and vaccum out after a few days. Should help controll them.

Carpet is filthy and disgusting, anyway. It is literally a breeding HAVEN for all manner of disgusting and dangerous organsims, such as dust mites (which feast off your dead skin cells) and fleas. I'd rip out the carpet, and install flooring with a hard surface (concrete, tile, stone, wood).
