Cox raised rates here a few months ago.... went to dish and havent looked back. But cable and basic cable cost us 80 bucks a month

I'm waiting to see the letter come to us in the mail. I know I won't pay Comcrap's price of $53 plus $3 for the modem lease after my sister moves out. I can justify spending $30 a month for internet, but not $56. It looks like I'll be going to WOW after she moves out even if it is the 112Kbps plan.

I was wondering because I have both services (I live in Beaverton) and I wonder if they're going to start giving me a $10 discount. I doubt it.

I hate these damn monopolistic practices... undoubtedly they are losing too many cable subscribers to satellite so they are essentially using their cable internet monopoly to anchor people to their cable TV service. :frown:

WOW offers a 500Kbps down plan for like $35 a month. The only thing that I would use a decent speed connection other than downloads would be for XBOX Live. I just like the fact of having a 24/7 internet connection with no wait to connect.

I sure am glad I get 2mbps down/500kbps up for $25 USD a month. Good old Canadian Cable :)

Heh.. I guess you're right, if you were on a budget, 500k would be a lot better than ~45k.. ;)
