fsck....just gave my mom's car a slight cosmetic issue

The car is a Mitsubishi Outlander

I was working on my mom's navigation system which is under her seat and requires the seat to be taken out (front passenger seat)...I didn't notice the door wasn't completely open, and the seat kind of banged the speaker grill protector thing and knocked it off. I checked out it went in and it seemed that it went on before the rest of the inside of the door. There is a little plastic part that is in the door and holds it in place. I tried to get the cover back on, and it knocked the little plastic thing into the door (it's inside the car door right now). Now the cover won't stay on.....i taped it for now but that won't go over well with her 🙁

it really is a minor cosmetic issue that can be repaired easily (I just need that little plastic piece), but it looks like a broken door because now the speaker and wires are exposed.

pic of the part that came off

anybody worked on one of these cars and know what little plastic piece i'm talking about? It's white and it's a little circle. Can I get one of these somewhere as a replacement part?

what were you doing on the navigation system now?

had to take it out to get the serial number for it. We need a replacement disc, and pioneer needs the serial to send out a new one.

Sometimes the dealers can get you oddball parts like this for a reasonable amount.

Probably a body shop too.

I'm not sure about that specific kind of car... but there are many 'little' things like what you're describing in my car that holds door components on... I've got a Buick, though.

I would suggest going to a Mitsubishi dealership and asking for help from the parts department... most of the time things like that can be purchased fairly inexpensively.

If the little plastic thing is inside the door right now, then I would usually suggest taking off the appropriate panel(s) on the door, and trying to retrieve it... but in this case, I don't think that would be terribly wise.

for a part like the thing that fell off I honestly don't see it costing over a fraction of a penny to make...it's basically like a little nut (except completely round), and made out of plastic....less than 1 cm in diameter

Take the door panel off, retrieve the part, and put it back together.

ZV

was thinking of doing that, but don't want to fsck up the entire door panel 😛
