FSB vs memory speed for SETI?

What would be better for SETI? I can bump by FSB to 161 or so (no agp/pci lock) 🙁 bringing me to 2.9ghz w/ memory @ 426mhz, or I can keep it as is with faster memory speeds. Is SETI dependant on memory speed at all or is it just processor speed and FSB/mhz?

i'd say that faster FSB is better than memory timings.... the CPU forum people have had benchmarks that showed sisoft sandra mem benchmarks were higher w/ high FSB than with highest possible FSB and maxed out timings.

I was maxed out on my FSB on an old ASUS MB, then got Memory chips able to do CAS 2.0 instead of only 2.5 and it was like I got a whole new machine. WU times went from 4 a day to 6 on this old 1600XP.

I can get my memory going to CAS 2 pretty well, but I'll bump my FSB up to 161 then. I can't push my memory past the 420's with that FSB but I don't do a ton of encoding anyways, so I doubt I'll notice much of a difference going down from 452. Thanks 🙂

My personal experience is to max out the FSB for the best WU times which many times means relaxing the memory settings a bit.

I've gotten faster WU times with lower PC Mark 2002 scores based on this logic.
