FSB "Strapping" question

What is a "strap"? I know many boards are rated at 800, 1066, 1300 maybe, I'm just not sure what these settings are and how they affect timing...

From what I know, there are different "tiers" of FSB ranges, like 0-400, 401-533(?). Basically, I'm not sure how this works, or what these straps are...

I'm soo confused, I can barely state the question clearly. If anyone could help me out it'd be great!

So basically, the strap refers to the clock speed of the North Bridge, which in turn affects the memory ratios?
