FSB question

I'm a little confused as to what FSB setting I should be putting in my 8rda+ BIOS.

I have kingston value ram pc2100 256x2. Which has a FSB of 133 but since it's ddr it performs at 266mhz... correct? so which value do I enter in BIOS?

If I want to run dual channel config so do I need to double the FSB value or does the BIOS automatically do this for me?

The cpu is a 1700xp which caps at 266... so is dual channel with the RAM mentioned above, pointless? (no OCing)

If I run pc2700 instead (w/ that chip)... would that be no better than the pc2100?

you want to have 133mhz in your bios. that's what the bus (the B in FSB) runs at. your memory, since it's DDR, sends double the data.. hence the memory being called 266mhz

Your front side bus should be set to 133MHz. The chip will automatically run at 266MHz front side bus at that setting.

To enable dual channel DDR you need to have your sticks of memory in the first and third dimm slots. This automatically enables dual channel DDR.

PC2100 is rated for speeds up to 266MHz. You should be able to overclock it, but how much you will be able to overclock it depends. The key is the FSB/DRAM ratio. Setting this to a ratio of 1:1 allows your memory to run at the same speed as the front side bus.

PC2700 is rated for speeds up to 333MHz so yes, you would have some headroom for overclocking if you used PC2700 sticks compared to the PC2100.

1700xp runs at 266... and since my ram is also running at 266... is running dual ch actually doing anything at that point?
