FSB or Multiplier more important?

I have a friend with a A7N8X-E Deluxe and Barton 2500+. He can't seem to get the FSB above 180, but he can push his multiplier up to 12.5 @ 180, 1.65V core with no apparent problems.

Most of the info I find shows people only wanting to push FSB up, even pushing multiplier down to do so.

My real question is whether this setup is acceptable, assuming it remains stable.

Thanks in advance.

Yes....Ultimately how he gets to higher cpu is far more important then fsb alone...meaning while it would be better to have a 2500+ oc'd at 10x200fsb versus 12x166 due to the added bandwidth and the chance to run the ram at much higher speeds the fact is don't let the limit of the fsb hold you back from a higher clocked oc...just like the P4 raw clock speed will trump ddr speeds alone....

I'd prefer the tremendous bus over the high multiplier, but if your bus bottoms out at 180, go for the raw clock with multipliers until you hit the CPU's limit. (In effect, what Duvie said.)
