So a mobo that supports socket a (amd athlon) has a max fsb of 333 right? Then a mobo that supports socket 478 (Intel P4) has a max fsb of 533 right? Is there a noticeable difference in performance between the two? Wouldnt it be smarter to get a socket 478 mobo?

Im in the market for a new mobo and Im not sure if I wanna go amd or intel. Ill be doing mostly gaming. I started oc'ing last week and I plan on oc'ing the chip I get. What do you suggest, amd or intel?

Yes I know this question has been asked a million times over and no Im not a noob :)

AMD uses DDR for thier FSB meaning 133 x 2 = 266 or 166 x 2 = 333 and now 200 x 2 = 400. Intel uses QDR which is 100 x 4, 133 x 4 and 200 x 4. Because Intel and AMD have difference arcitectures they work differently I don't want to get all technical but they basically perform the same. if you want to go the cheap router u can get a AMD 2500 and clock it to a 3200 fairly easily. if you want modertate cost get a p4 2.4C with 800 fsb. those are GREAT OCer's Both setup are awsome and the intel will probably havea bit of performace advantages esspecialy when overclocked. I am a broke college student so I have always had AMD systems and go for the best bang for the buck. If I had a bit more cash I would have gone with Intel probably. Either sytem is more than enough for now. If you do go with Intel go for the C versions.

So then do a search

And its pointless to start another Intel versus AMD thread. Anand, HardOCP, Tomshardware, blah, blah....you can find hundreds of CPU reviews that will answer your question for you without the flaming that goes on here.
