FSB:DRAM ratio?

Hey all,

I'm looking at CPUz right now and it says my cpu is at 2.8 GHZ and 1066FSB, but I look at the memory it says DRAM Frequency - 533MHZ and FSB/DRAM ratio 1:2. I have the Bios set to auto and 10.5x266 but are these the correct settings for the ram? I have seen around that you should have the ratio set to 4:3 but I really have no idea.

Your settings look ok. I'm not sure about the ratio. Faster's generally better unless there's stability problems.

well generally I have no idea about alot of these settings, I usually have an AMD chip which is not great for OCing unless you take drastic measures (I never had an opteron but I hear they're better overclockers). This new gigabyte board has more settings than I know what to do with so I just set everything to auto and hoped most of it was right. But the specs for my e7400 list the FSB at 1066 so i imagine that's true. I'll have to keep researching because I did want to get at least a 3.5GHZ OC from it when my new cooler comes in.

thanks for the confirmation on the stock settings though

When you overclock, raise your fsb, and keep the ram on auto. When you have the cpu stable, play with the ram speed. There's a few different ways to do it, but generally you want the highest cpu speed, with high ram speed being secondary.
