My MB won't boot when I set the DRAM frequency to 400

(FSB is set to 220 so bout 3.3GHz)

And when I OC with the buit-in AI OC tool, CPU-z tells me that my DRAM frquency is 133 something

(ratio of 3:2 <----------------wth this mean?? FSB : DRAM frquency? )

It works fine when I set it AUTO. but I feel like I am not using its full potential.

Some1 tell me the mechanism (or relatioship) of this. or u can just link me up

thx.

3.0e
P4c800 dex.
Dual ch. OCZ enhanced latency (512 each)

what kind of ocz memory? pc2100? You will probably need at least pc3500 memory to go that high. At the very least pc3200.

also, don't use the ai oc tool, set everything manually instead and you will get much better speed, stability and overclocks.

the 3:2 is the ratio of the fsb speed to the memory speed. with your fsb at 220 and the memory at 3:2 the memory speed will be 146mhz, 2/3 of the fsb. You want your memory running 1:1 (same as fsb) for best performance.

Sorry my RAMs are pc3200

ok If I want to set my FSB to 220, how can I set the DRAM frequency to 220?

(so they can be 1:1ratio)

My BIOS has options of 133,266 and 400 (or somthing like that)

and the problem is when I set the DRAM frequency to 400 it won't boot.

help!

400 is 1:1 and will run the memory at the same speed as the fsb. In this case, 220mhz. Your memory probably just can't handle that speed, even though it is only a minor overclock, at least with your current timings. how are your timings set? set them to 3-4-4-8 and raise the vdimm voltage to the highest setting allowed, 2.85v and try again.
