Fsb:dram = 11:13

No. You shouldn't have issues with that fsb:ram ratio. I don't think what you did is going to fix your problems though. Your ram was automatically setting itself to 800 MHz speed. When you changed the fsb you override the automatic setting and now you're slightly underclocking your ram which might of cured the instability. It sounds like your ram settings are a little unstable. You might of fixed it by what you did. If not I'm sure your just a few tweaks away from a rock solid stable system.

Thx, I gamed on it for two hours and it was stable then it blue screened when idling... I think there might be a sync requirement for this processor? I might try setting the fsb to 1600 as this chip is supposed to be a good oc'er... now the chipset on the otherhand sux at ocing

I've had a similar problem where I could game for hours without issues, but while working at the desktop, I get a random crash. Increasing cpu voltage fixed that for me.

The 650i/680i chipset is usually capable of 1600 MHz fsb, but with dual cores. Quad cores might be different.... In general, quad cores just don't hit high fsb frequencies like dual cores. At least, that's what I've seen from reviews and such.

And for running ram in sync with the fsb... Syncing ram and fsb was important back in the Pentium 4 days for the sake of performance. However, there's little impact with running ram out of sync with the fsb for today's modern processors.

What voltage is your ram and CPU at?
Try turning off speedstep.

Well this is an e0 so it should in theory be able to take even lower volts and be fine. I'm on a different computer right now so can't do screens. I will say though that this mobo/ram combo has given me issues before, I had to change the voltage of the ram and mem controller just to be able to use all four sticks.

If I can't get it to 1600mhz, is there even a difference between ddr2 800 and 667?

No difference really. Your ram:fsb would be running at 1:1 at 667 assuming you leave fsb where it is now. It might be really stable. Try it.

I messed around with the setting some more and changed the fsb back to 1333 and the mem back to 800 bc I didn't like the idea of it running slower than its advertised speed even if there was no performance difference. I also ended up disabling spread spectrum for everything... I didn't know it was enabled. Anyways, it seems to be stable but only time will tell.

On a side note, spread spectrum really sucks... My 12v readings are higher since I disabled it.

Thanks Outfield and fff
