fs4 monitor problem

I have MS fs4 running on a 2gh Athlon with an nvidia 4200 video card. It plays perfectly at any resolution on a 21" IBM CRT monitor. When I connect it to a Hyundai Imagequest Q17 monitor (and set the game resolution to the native monitor resolution with analog input), the game slows down to the point that it is unplayable. On take of the plane will move and stop for a couple of seconds then move again. I can not imagine how a monitor can effect the computer. All other games play fine on either monitor. I have tried the generic drivers as well as the Hyundai drivers to no avail. Any ideas as this just to seem impossible to explain. Thanks!
