Here's some vids of ms flight sim 2004 - a century of flight. Basically, they show some of the various new planes taking off. You get a glimpse of the new scenery capabilities (clouds). These are the vids that are on gamespot.com.

They're on cheap webhosting, courtesy of ripplehost, with 1gb bandwidth...wonder how long it'll last.

thanks for the links, some interesting stuff.

MS has their plane models and weather effects (ie. clouds) done pretty well but their landscape and water could use 'a lot' of work. At low altitude the low-res satellite ground texture doesn't look much different from FS2000 and the water looks simply horrible. IL-2 has some great looking water and Forgotten Battles which takes advantage of DX8 cards pixel shadder makes the water look even better.

MS is insane if they think people are going to spend another $40 for the benefit of flying the Kitty Hawk and what not. For the next version of MSFS they should redesign the game from the ground up... Grahpics wise the game simply is not able to compete with some of the newer sims, take for example X-Plane project.

This time around I'll be buying it just for the drastically improved weather engine and the ATC improvements. It looks good, but yeah I realize also that they have a lot of work to do to take advantage of all the current technologies. A lot of flight games actually look better than msfs, but they really just don't have the scope.
