I am about to sell my Power Macintosh 8500/120. However, I got it with an academic discount. I have been searching through the internet and I believe I can sell the hardware without problems (I read that people are allowed to resell hardware after a period of 2-3 years; the computer is about 6 years old).

But what about the operating system bundled with it? Or the other software bundled with it?

I also have academic software that is about that old too. I wasn't going to include it since I have read Anandtech rules, but does the rule apply even though the software is not supported anymore (such as Adobe Pagemill 1.0)?

I would appreciate any help on this matter before putting my Mac on sale. Please PM or e-mail any responses. Thank you for your help.

Anything?

I guess if I don't hear anything further, I'll just sell only the OS that came with the computer and all the software that is permissible by Anandtech.

I don't see any reason that you couldn't sell it.

Cant' sell academic software here, OEM software must include a peice of hardware (IDE cable), retail is OK on it's own.

Last checked you should be ok...I too think it's 3 years on resell of hardware.

Like all this software licensing stuff though, best not to try. I am currently banned on ebay for selling my retail Windows 95 Upgrade :(.

Thanks for all your replies. I guess I may not even sell the OS that came bundled with the computer and just sell what I can without breaking any rules here on Anandtech.
