FS/FT forum - Make new messages stay at the top longer?

I've noticed that with the amount of bumpage going on in the FS/FT forum, new threads sink down a page or two almost within minutes. Perhaps new threads could be held at the top for the day, or at least for a few hours (if there are too many new threads to keep them all at the top)? A post could be considered new if it's less than x minutes/hours old, and has no responses.

That doesnt make alot of sense, also the mods have been enforcing the bumping problem.

Why not? it would allow new threads to stay on top and be recognized before they start to sink...without needing to be constantly bumped.

Do you know how many new threads come along during the day? That would turn into the biggest cluster@#$#! There isnt enough room to do that. The way its set up is good as long as folks dont bump too much.

Then it could be the last 5-10 new messages on top, or they could just be held up top for x amount of minutes, 10, 20, 30, 60, whatever is necessary to keep it from filling up too much. Even with moderate bumping, there's so much activity in that forum that a new message sinks to the bottom very quickly.

If you want to see only the most recently added threads go to customize and change the setting marked "Would you like to see most recent replied to thread on top?" to NO.
