Austin, TX: the first Fry's opened here last weekend.
I was in there the other day and I was in the VCR/DVD isle. I see this dude who works there take a 5-disc DVD changer off the shelf, and set it down in the isle. He proceeds to stand on it while reaching for something on a higher out of reach shelf. When he gets what he needs, he picks up the DVD player and puts it back on the shelf. Even after I said, somewhat outloud, "remind me not to buy THAT one".
Hehehehe.... now i wonder about the integrity of "new" stuff on store shelves (not just at Fry's but anywhere.
Also, the other day I bought a DVD player from there (different model
)... and it had a sticker on the side saying it had been returned but it had been checked by whomever. Well... I got that thing home, and it operated well, but the mechanism made a bunch of not-so-good sounding noises. So, obviously, the checker guy didn't check it out too well. :| ugh.
