Austin, TX: the first Fry's opened here last weekend.

I was in there the other day and I was in the VCR/DVD isle. I see this dude who works there take a 5-disc DVD changer off the shelf, and set it down in the isle. He proceeds to stand on it while reaching for something on a higher out of reach shelf. When he gets what he needs, he picks up the DVD player and puts it back on the shelf. Even after I said, somewhat outloud, "remind me not to buy THAT one".

Hehehehe.... now i wonder about the integrity of "new" stuff on store shelves (not just at Fry's but anywhere.

Also, the other day I bought a DVD player from there (different model :))... and it had a sticker on the side saying it had been returned but it had been checked by whomever. Well... I got that thing home, and it operated well, but the mechanism made a bunch of not-so-good sounding noises. So, obviously, the checker guy didn't check it out too well. :| ugh.

That dude had no respect for other customers.

Are you taking that player back?

TripleJ...

Yeah... I'll take it back. IT was the last one though. Ugh. And it turned out to be a darned good player video wise. Panasonic RP-56 progressive scan. Picture is real nice on the front projection setup i have. I guess i'll wait till they get some more in.

Thank goodness for return policies. Last DVD player I bought a few months ago was from an on-line store. Problem was, it was just released and i never saw it in action. Turns out i was disappointed with the picture... and am now stuck with it. i could e-Bay it, but i'll take a $50-75 hit (abt 20-30%) just becuase the price aftere a few months has gone way down. that'll teach me to not buy something without trying it unless I can return it. hehehehee...

Thanks for the concern.
