Thanks for the link, I think. The .pdf didn't tell me anything about RAM compatibility, and, in any case, it references the D865GRH motherboard, not the D865GBF. On Kingston's site, the only machines on the Compatiblity List for this KHX3200AK2/1GR RAM are the Shuttle - XPC P Series P 2500g & Shuttle - XPC P Series P 8100g. Since I don't have one of those, I was curious to know if the RAM would work on an Intel D865GBF. The Hyper-X RAM doesn't show up on Kingston's list of RAM that'll work with the Intel board. Hence, my curiosity, since the KVR400X64C3AK2/1G ValueRAM that they DO list as being compatible goes for $100 or more.

Oh goodness. Second link down on a google search: here!

In all honesty, take those "compatibility" lists with a grain of salt. In some cases, yes they are needed (especially with some of the newer cutting edge motherboards). However, my experience (I said *my*) is that most of this ram will work with older boards just fine.

Rarely have I had a name-brand motherboard not work well with one of the majour memory manufacturers. When I did, it was an OEM job from a Dell or HP (can't remember) and some cheapie memory.

Your mileage may vary - but I have never had a problem with Kingston ram (again, *I*).

One of the main things that I like about Kingston is that their US HQ is 7 miles down the street from me in Fountain Valley. I just called them to ask about the KHX3200AK2/1GR RAM, and they told me that it should work with the Intel board, and that if it didn't, they'd handle it. They also gave me a slightly better price on it through MemoSun, their distribution arm. A few months ago I drove over there to pick up a $50 stick of 128MB RAM for a friend's laptop. The gal accidentally gave me a box that had eight 1GB sticks in it, somebody else's order, worth about $2K. As you can imagine, she got a bit frantic about it when she discovered her mistake, and was extremely thrilled when she called me after I got home and found that I had her missing RAM. When I brought it back, she gave me a nice Kingston polo shirt & baseball cap as well as her eternal gratitude for saving her job, so these days I usually get some pretty decent Kingston RAM prices from MemoSun when I call.
