Does anybody work over by the old Incredible Universe location NE of 96th and I-69? I was on a contract job at a company near there when I noticed they were working on it, but I'm finished there and in a different location. If you're nearby during the day, somebody swing by and see if you can find any identifying marks, or, if you're really ambitious-- ask one of the workers if they know what's going in there. If it's Fry's, I will be a happy, happy dork. If not, I'll curse myself for buying yet another random internet forum rumor.

I live a mile from there - I'll see what I can find out. 🙂

Haven't checked yet - had meetings until yesterday evening and looks like I'll be working late again tonite. I'll check it eventually 🙂

Ok, I FINALLY checked that building and there are no signs of Fry's moving in there, just some sort of beauty care and spa place. Nobody was there for me to ask but I drove around and looked inside and stuff - just saw a sign saying that they're looking to hire beauty professionals.

Sorry 🙁

Good. They seem to be moving farther and farther eastward. I'll be sharing in the Fry's goodness in 2039 at their rate of expansion, though.
They just opened their first East Coast store in Duluth, Georgia. Couldn't believe it! Duluth is at the edge of Atlanta's suburbia, not exactly a thriving metropolis. I'm originally from SoCal and it blows my mind that they picked this unremarkable suburb. Whatever, I'm not complaining!

Duluth is about an hour from the border of SC/NC/TN/AL

Don't badmouth their selection of location! It's five minutes from my house. 🙂

I am just glad they didn't stick it over near Perimeter mall (complete nightmare) or in town.

The choice of location actually makes a lot of sense.

i started this thread some time ago

I found out about the opening talking to employees at the Chicago Fry's at there grand opening, they transfered a bunch to chicago plus they brought in temp help from all the other fry's stores. One of the guys in computer hardware told me they were coming to fishers, I doubt he would pull my leg, cuz how would he know about fishers.

So if you really want to know where and when you prob can call fry's corporate or the chicago store, cuz when the store opens in Fishers they will prob bring down half the chicago employees to help out

Hey I was right in my guess on the location! I like the fact that its not right in the Castleton/Allisonville /82nd area. 96th and I-69 can be bad enough but at least there are back ways in and out of that area.

😀

I couldn't pick a better location. I'm just curious why there are health and beauty care signs all over the building now... :/

The press release would seem to indicate that it is indeed being built in the old Incredible Universe building. I knew that building was just exactly right for Fry's-- enormous, slightly out-of-the-way, and worn the hell out. Describes every Fry's I've been to in Phoenix, LA, SF, and Portland. This is truly a momentous occasion for Indianapolis geeks.

Bah.. I'm still bitter that I moved to South Bend 2 years ago.... 😉 I'll need to come back for Colts games, Donato's pizzas, Max and Erma's, and now Fry's! Oh yeah, and friends and family.... Blah Blah Blah.... 😀

Any news on when the Indianapolis Fry's will be opening?

TIA

I don't know anything for sure but they used to have the main entrance blocked off with a closed gate and it is almost always open now. I see a lot of pickup truck activity and a few delivery trucks (I'm assuming delivering shelving and such, not products). No clue on the official opening date. Maybe I'll swing by and see if I can catch somebody around for an opening date.

We finally got one in Atlanta. Just going in and browsing isn't as fun as I had hoped; you really need to have something specific you are after when you go in there.

Anyone have an idea where? Isn't the old Incredible Universe/Auto Nation empty? <BR>This is just okay for me. I get my stuff from Outpost basically next day. I live 1-1 1/2 hours from their Ohio warehouse. Now I might have to add sales tax. However we are in that area often and I have kids living in Fishers so...🙂😎

i THINK fry's owns the incredible universe properties... at least from what i can remember. when i worked there they used incredible universe trucks from time to time for deliveries.

Indianapolis? Man, you totally spelled it wrong! It's spelled Middleofnowherepennsylvania. No? Ohhhh man......let a guy dream.

Perhaps only years away from one in KC then it would only be 3 horus from me lol. On a side note everytime i go on vacation somewhere a year later a frys opens..... lol. But yah i was in Las Vegas right before frys opened there and i was in seattle and chicago abour a year before sadly though i havent been to indy in 4 years so this no longer holds true. Believe it or not ive only been to a frys once becuase ive only been to one city that has one.

This thread makes me appreciate living in Dallas Texas.. (plano suburb)

Dallas area and California has the largest Fry's stores I love it..

We have 4 in the DFW area, all of em are humongus, about 2-3 times the size of a sams club or costco, and they always have the popular ads that people get there "HOT DEALS" from 😉
