Oh man this is one nice notebook!! I would have bought it on the spot if the preconfigured model had all the goodies I want (WUXGA screen, 5400 RPM HD, and 64MB video card).

Looks like I'll be configuring my custom X1000 real soon!

The only reason I'm sitting here typing this and not ordering mine is I really want the Mobility 9600 video. Does anyone know if Compaq is going to offer the Mobility 9600 as an option in the X1000 series when it is FINALLY released? I may just wait if that's the plan.

Can anyone tell me about the Mobility 9200 that is in the X1000? Is this the same as the Mobility 9000 that Dell is selling with their notebooks? I really have no clue about the 9200. How is it going to compare to the soon to be released 9600?

Come on ATI release the 9600 already!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Oh man, I was ready to pull the trigger and order me up the X1000 for a grand total of $1700 after 10% coupon and $100 rebate. I backed out at the last second because I just can't let myself settle for the Mobility 9200 when I know the 9600 could be out any day! THe 9600 is too big a jump from the 9200 (aka 9000 minus the AGP 8). I'd be kicking myself for the next year!
 
I thought the 9600 was somehow incompatible with Intels 855 chipset. Though if the 9200 works then the 9600 should too.

I'm so ready to pull the trigger....
