Fry's Electronics in NYC?

Crono

Lifer
Anyone know where it is? I need to pick up a socket a Sempron ASAP.
I checked their website, but it doesn't say.

Are you kidding?

Try CompUSA. Only major store in the area that I can think of that carries retail box CPUs. There are lots of little PC shops around if you hit a phone book.

I hit the CompUSA near me just 20 minutes ago. Didn't have any socket A's 🙁 I only have $90 on me, too.

Yeah. I'm on 59th and Broadway right now, so anything close would be good.

Edit: Tami (from these forums) said there was one on 230th St, but I couldn't find it...

Damn, I wish there was a Fry's here.

Try DataVision (5th and 39th, across from CompUSA), I think they sell processors in the basement.

I called the two places I used to go to a while back, but neither place still carries socket A CPUs. Sorry. A third place I went to once appears to be out of business. I guess the PC parts business has not been kind? 🙁

EDIT: I forgot about DataVision. But they usually only have very recent CPUs and they don't really carry much of a variety in stock.

EDIT2: I called DataVision and J&R for you (slow day at work). No socket A CPUs. 🙁

Thanks for trying  I might just order the 3100+/NFORCE3-A from Outpost, which is a great deal. I'll have to wait 2 days or more to get it, though. Oh well.

I have a friend who works in a computer store on 37th st (between Madison and 5th) wanna give him a call? If you tell him I sent you, you should get a good deal. I will PM you the info.

(We been best friends forever, it's not a referall scam or sumshit) 🙂

YGPM, the best thing about this guy is that he is a gamer, and really into hardware. So if anything, it's a nice spot to hang out. (We even throw LAN parties in the store on random weekends.)

Nope, we have one here in Atlanta! That's East coast, right? 😉

By the way folks, you can call their Sunnyvale store, and they will ship you anything you want.
