UPDATED 5/31/04

Fry's the past two days has also been running 2700/2800+ combos with the same nForce board for $15 more per higher processor.

2700 combo

I cannot find the link to the 2800+ combo unfortunately, but I think it runs $99.99.

I would have to say these are even "hotter" - slightly higher CPU speed + BOXED RETAIL processor, so it comes with a stock HSF combo. The boards aren't great for overclocking anyway so a better HSF combo is trivial and kind of worthless.

Old 2600+ combo:

Bare CPU 2600+, motherboard is an ECS N2U400

The board is an ECS N2U400-A, and this deal is good in L.A., too, and probably elsewhere. :D

From the L.A. Times ad.

Other hot Fry's deals to go with this combo:

Maxtor 120 GB, 8 MB cache drive: $59.99 w/ NO REBATE!
512 MB Kingston PC3200 DDR RAM: $69.99 AR

The previous deal for the 2400+ and ECS K7VTA3 for $59.99 was great. For $10 more, this combo is at least as good a deal, and they have a great drive and a decent RAM deal to go with it.

This is smokin' hot!

Anyone know if you can unlock the cpu multiplier with this board? Must know before buying, TIA.

PMs are sent to those interested

Frys in LV is 5 minutes from work.

This week, I grabbed 4 units that were on sale and shipped them around the country to peeps that are drooling for a Frys.

I can't say for sure but I would guess that it is locked. Fry's tends to have new stuff and they are all locked right now. I bought the $59.99 deal a few days ago with the 2400+ and it is locked. First locked processor I've ever owned. Sucks

Indeed. It's not so much overclocking that interests me so much as that I don't want to be stuck at the 2600+'s 133MHz FSB :(

these should be 166 bus, and are most likely locked. I just received a week 49...

Just picked up the combo a the 635 and Jupiter location, around 4 pm, they still had about a stack of 100 of the mb. This store isn't too packed ever since the plano one opened.

I wish Fry's would come to Maryland...oh well, I'm going out to Cali for school so I'll finally get to experience the Fry's phenomenon.

Isn't the only think locked on these is the multiplier? We can still change the FSB as long as the motherboard allows it right?

I also received the Barton core cpu.. very good deal as the CPU by itself sells for $85 online OEM. For 69 + tax with nvidia nforce 2 motherboard you cant beat this.

Also picked up the 120gb hard drive.. already got it halfway filled up :p

plano store had tons of stuff left when i was there... (around 10:30-11am)
