I imagine this is not Serial ATA (won't matter to everyone), but less than 50 cents per gigabyte (especially with no rebates) is hot.

Well you can see the newspaper ad on here: fry's ad
just click on where it says "250gb", but it doesn't show any picture of the hd or anything. Just says 250GB UDMA/133 Hard Drive. Retail Boxed Hard Drive(Installation kit included)
7200RPM, 16MB Buffer, "No Rebate Required" $109.99

Maybe it will show it better when the full fry's ad comes out in the Thursday paper.

Only Maxtor makes UDMA/133 hard drives with 16 MB cache. Someone owes Childs $50. (PSSST, Childs, my commission is 50% of your earnings ;) )

Just got one. It is a Maxtor. I remember when I used to work in retail and I learned that manufacturer's would only allow retailers to put their products up on sale at cheap prices on the condition that they not divulge their name in the ad.
Anyhow there were only 4 left at the sunnyvale Fry's.
Bastards wouldnt even label the shelf with the advertised special. They only put up the 'Recommended Value' sign that depicted a 300 gb drive with 8mb smaller buffer for 100 bucks more.

Can't imagine paying $109+tax for this drives. :disgust:

Got 2 of these for $69.50+tax when Staples had them on clearance 2 weeks ago. And yes both drives I got have 16mb cache. :D
