I bought a sony HMDA200 flat screen 17inch montior for around 100 dollars refurbished off of ubid.com... i figured for the price i got a good deal because it retailed for around 350... i had the damn thing for just under 4 hours and i got a BSOD... then the thing made a wierd cracking noise and now its complety dead.. the wierd thing is that i blew out too NEC's montiors on the same video card.. i am now using a nec mulitsync 2V that i got for 20 bucks.. the thing was made in 1993 and works great.. it just makes me mad that a brand new sony or nec all blow out on me.. is it bad luck or what? also if i where to take my sony to a local place here to get it fixed what are the chances that a local shop could fix it, and how much? thanks

i learned my leason not to buy refurb monitor ever a long time ago. Sometimes--the cost to fix it is too expensive if the monitor is not under any warranty.

well it did have a 90 day sony warranty but they wanted me to pay to ship the damn thing to like pennsyvanlia and take at least 15 business days to fix it.. so i just basically said screw it.. i will never buy anything refurb now or anything from UBID unless its factory sealed... damn them

bubbadu, sorry to hear about your troubles, but if I were you, I'd pull that video card out and keep it far, far away from ANY monitor's you may own.
