On an Asus P2B-D running a Promise ATA 100 controller with 4 raided hd's,
I can't get a simple IDE tape drive to run on the onboard IDE.

Keep getting "Unexpected Buss Free" error message.
Running Win NT4.

Have tried 4 different tape drives.
Current tape drive is Onstream 60gb with Yosemite Tapeware XE.

Anybody have any ideas?
(Yes, we're using latest Asus bios.)
(Yes, Asus tech support has been totally useless.)

I did a simple google search on - "unexpected bus free"- (with quote marks) and got a number of hits mostly scsi related. Do you have the latest drivers and BIOS for your raid card and tape drive? And the latest ASPI layer drivers (DL from Adaptec site) for your OS (often used for IDE as well)? Also double check your hardware - try diff cable - check for bent pins, etc.
