Suddenly my Pioneer Dvd 106(Slot Loading)cant read CD's or Dvd's. When you pop in a cd..... green led blinks a couple of secs then NOTHING!! occasionly it will read it after a reboot. What the heck is going on here? Any Ideas?

OH! I forgot to mention that the DVD drive Icon changes into a cd drive Icon and fails to show the appropriate DVD/CD icon :(

Problem Solved! ROXIO Easy CD creator was the culprit. I simply removed it from My system and BAM! My Dvd drive is in full effect

I find that strange. I have three systems, a lappie and two towers. All have DVD players. The two towers have Pioneer 106 slot drives. All three systems have ECDC 5 Platinum and there are zero problems like you describe. Maybe that is because I never install Direct CD - that is a separate program that comes with ECDC that allows you to use your CDR/W drive as a quasi disk drive. Maybe that is the problem? (DCD is buggy!)

Or . . . maybe it is where and how you have your CD/RW drive? I have three of those . . . all EXTERNAL, and there is never a problem that way.

you know you are right. I reinstalled easy CD creator platinum without direct cd and it works fine.

Heh, I had that problem. It was due to the IDE cable on my part.

Me thinks that the Pioneer DVD-106S is really picky :D

Now, I love it!!
