Frustrating Outlook Problem

I've been dealing with this for a while now. I've googled the crap out this problem but I can't find anything that works.

It has been gradually getting worse for about a month now

It started when, occasionally, I would reply to an email and I would instantly get this message:

From: System Administrator
To: (me)

Subject: Undeliverable (Email title)

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: Testing
Sent: 7/5/2007 3:55 PM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'other person's email' on 7/5/2007 3:55 PM
554 5.7.1 <email@email.com>: Relay access denied

My fix was to close out of Outlook and reopen it. Problem solved. Then that stopped working as a fix. Then it grew to where every email reply came back like this. Today it started doing it to NEW emails. Now nothing goes out at all. I can still receive email... I just can't reply or send new mail. Forwarding still works. HELLPPPP!!! 🙁

Edit: Win XP Home /// Outlook 2003

One possibility is that you have multiple accounts configured in Outlook, and you are composing an email from one account (From🙂 but using another account to physically send the email.

If you're sending email through your "isp.com" account, but the email appears to be from "whoozyerdaddy@anotherisp.com", then isp.com could reject it for the reason you got.

Hmm... I do have multiple incoming accts. So it's possible for me to receive an e-mail from my #1 isp and reply back using my #2 address. But this isn't a problem on my system at home. Just my laptop. And I can forward just fine. Prior to yeterday I could compose just fine as well... not anymore.

Since it's working on your home system, just compare how that system and your laptop are configured for sending email - that should find the problem.

Are you sending your logon credentials to your SMTP server? Many ISPs require that you authenticate with the SMTP if you are outside of their subnet. There should be an option for this under More Settings on your account settings screen.
