Frustrating IE issues

I am having problems with IE. Well actually my mother is having issues. Everytime she goes to click on three plus links from any given website IE closes. The first problem is that i built the computer, but i used an old CPU that i had lying around from an old computer that was running into the same situations. Could it be that the Processor is causing this extreme anguish. It is an Athlon 1.33. Any help would and could possible help me in my frustration.

I doubt it's the proc. Have you checked the system for spyware/adware/virii yet?

Try Firefox browser.

And download a good anti-spyware program to analyze the PC while you're at it. I recommend Spysweeper.
