So I get home after a long day Tuesday evening and walk over to my computer. I shake the mouse to wake the monitor. ...nothing happens... I press random keys on the keyboard, and nothing. I look at the Dell Inspirion 530, its on and running. So i think okay, mabye it locked up - this kind of stuff happens every once in a while i guess. I hold down the power button on the PC to manually shut it down. I press again to bring it back up. I sit in my chair and gaze at the screen for a few minutes and its solid black. After about 5 minutes, the screen turns gray and says "Click Next to Load Operating System" as it is prompting to do a Factory Restore. I yell nooooooooo! 😱 So i turn off and on again. Windows Vista will not load. Good think i backed up all my docs and applications to an external hdd. I went to bed - didn't feel like touching it. I proceeded with the Factory Restore process Thursday after another long day of being away from home. I get the Dell PC back to the way I like it. All is well. I woke up this morning (Saturday) to find the same screen - "Click next to proceed with Factory Restore."
Any ideas? My guess is corrupted Windows Vista file - or issue with hard drive.
Thanks for letting me vent.
p.s. - Everyone should get a netbook. They are awesome for times like this.
