Frustrated after fresh Win 10 install

Hi Everyone,

I recently started from a fresh Windows 7 64 -> 10 installation and ever since this happened, I receive the damn black screen bug upon system boot, wake etc..

I didn't have this issue with my 280 and my RX480 before the new install. Is there something I'm missing? I'm running the latest WHQL drivers 16.7.3.

It's to the point now that I want to toss the machine out the window

I'm using two display port to DVI connectors btw. Like I mentioned before, I ran this thing for a long time on the older win 10 install with no issues at all.

I would do a complete reinstall of just win 10 with no upgrade. Also something changed with how Win10 wakes up as I've been having issues randomly with it now where it will be super slow for a while after waking up.

IIRC this happened with the first version of windows 10. Have you thought about downloading the most recent version onto a USB stick and installing that?

I get home on Friday and will do another install. I'll download the latest ISO and start there.

I'm running:

Rx480
32gb ddr3 ram 1600
Multiple Intel SSD's
Two 25 inch 1080p monitors (hp)
Asrock z97pro4

Thanks everyone for your help. I'll let you know how it goes on Friday. This is literally the most frustrating experience I've had in the past few years.

Yeah, just turned off fast start before I headed to the airport.

Is there anything useful in the event logs? Can you post your system information?

Does your motherboard have windows 10 drivers?

I'll check that when I get back. There are Windows 10 drivers which have been installed, but I'll double check to see if the chipset drivers were installed. I could have forgotten to do that.

Welp, after installing all the device drivers again from asrock, the issue still remains.

To help alleviate my frustration as I'm extremely busy, I disabled sleep mode. I'll do a Windows safe mode removal of drivers and try again. After that, I'll do a reinstall of Win 10.

This is probably a long shot, but I had something similar happen to me when I first put together my current rig. There was a conflict between the Intel HD graphics driver and the AMD driver. At first, I had to disable the Intel graphics from Safe mode. This prevented the system from loading the Intel driver and no more black screens. Later ASUS put out a bios update that seemed to eliminate the conflict and I was able to use the Intel graphics to drive a second monitor.
