FruityLoops Issues and Windows Media Player

Some of my wav files won't load in Fruityloops and won't play in media player.

I get this error from WMP:
An audio codec is needed to play this file. To determine if this codec is available to download from the Web, click Web Help.

Microsoft website after i click "Web Help" says:
Windows Media Player Error Message Help

You've encountered an error message C00D10D1 while using Windows Media Player. The following information might help you troubleshoot the issue.
Codec is missing

Windows Media Player cannot play the file (or cannot play either the audio or video portion of the file) because the Ogg Vorbis Mode 1 (674F) codec is not installed on your computer.

Anyone else have this problem and how do i solve it?

Are you sure they are wavs, or are they ogg vorbis files? Ogg vorbis is a format of compressed audio files, like mp3 (but better). Windows does not come with an ogg vorbis decoder by default.

Have you tried playing them in another audio player like winamp or foobar2k? What about changing the extension to .ogg to see if they are actually ogg files with a wav extension (hey, you never know).

I've never liked downloading Super-1337-Codec-Pack-#6 since they usually contain out of date codecs, more codecs than you'll actually use, or generally screw up file playback. That's just my personal experience. I'd rather trust myself to gather the proper codecs I need than someone else's hodgepodge.

If you need a specific decoder, hit up the official page, in this case vorbis.com, and download your appropriate file.

If you're playing through WMP, they have a DirectShow filter for that:

See if that works. Good luck!

The files which i refer to are files that are loaded when I install Fruityloops (all .wav).

Thanks for the effort. Anyhow, I might have to try doing that again because I tried doing that before and it didn't help the situation.

Tried it again and it still doesn't help. In FL the Sampler button is just red because it can't load the file to play it. And that sucks because i need a few of the default files for my music.

Any other ideas?

I burnt the setup files to a cd and I've been using the same setup for more than 2 years without a problem.
