On an A7V, this unlocked cpu(via pencil trick) will work perfect under the 8 multiplier. It will not work on the 8.5 or higher. At 8.5 for some reason the registry repair program opens and says "backing up files" then the computer freezes(num lock won't go on/off). Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm using a buy.com cpu with originally locked l1's. FSB at default. Voltage @ 1.6, any tips? I haven't played with the fsb or tweaked the voltage any, just right before I started I turned up the voltage to 1.6 and left it there through the whole process, I think I can go up to 1.85.

Chrome orb and the Taisol btw, they both do the exact same thing.

Try redoing the pencil lines. Some people couldn't set the 0.5 multipliers but after they went over the pencil they could. You could try bumping up the voltage but I highly doubt that will work.

I have a 700 unlocked via pencil too!
It's stable @700 even at 1.45, but to pass 800 gotta use at least 1.8.
Actually it's 936@1.9, more gives the registry error , or a bios checksum error.
Any idea on the checksum error? Where does it comes from?

CMOS Checksum error is when BIOS goes bad...

Use the "reset to defaults" feature on your BIOS after you clear your CMOS jumper trick.

Well I must have got a crappy duron, when I got 2 that were unlocked in the mail 3 weeks prior and ordered one for myself and it was locked.. I was suspicious. Well now I guess I'm just going to have to settle for 800 Mhz, thats not too bad :p
