So I've apparently got a bad HDD on my Vista Home machine. The error message I got was "LOGON PROCESS HAS FAILED TO CREATE THE SECURITY OPTIONS DIALOG"; some Googling found that disabling Superfetch sometimes fixes this, but it didn't for me so I set it up to run CHKDSK and left it overnight.
This morning it hung at 13% completed. I redid the check and came home from work, and it STILL hung at about 13%. Thing is, I can't cancel the CHKDSK or enter BIOS; when it posts, my USB keyboard doesn't let me in. Thing with THAT is that there's no PS/2 port to put in a keyboard that will work...so what can I do to circumvent the bad CHKDSK? I can't get to Windows, I can't get to BIOS, and I don't seem to have the ability to do much else. Thoughts?
EDIT: I should also add that I tried to unplug the SATA drive to force the motherboard to go to BIOS, but that the keyboard is still unresponsive in all USB ports.
