Frozen chicken left out...

This morning I put some some sealed frozen chicken on the counter (the breasts in the packs from costco). Of course when I got home at 6 it was thawed. I put it back in the fridge. Is it ok to eat? I am not one to be overly picky about food safety.

Yeah, it's fine as long as you're a normal healthy person. My folks used to leave stuff out to defrost like that all the time. Just leave it in the sink and go to work.

I mean, I wouldn't take a chance on food safety w/ small children or the elderly, but for myself, yeah all the time.

The problem isn't the bacteria that grows on the food, it's that the food isn't cooked enough to kill the bacteria.

It's kind of like driving at 100 mph isn't a problem, the quick stop when you hit something is.

You think farm chickens are kept in fridges? They're left out exposed to all sorts of high temps, and they're fine to eat.
