I just bought a Frontier Labs NEX II portable MP3 player, but I have problems installing this USB device on my PC.
I Use Win2000 prof. I connected the player to a USB port and turned it on, my computer immediatly recognized the thing and started installing it. After installing I should see the player as a removable drive in windows explorer, but no removable drive in my explorer, whatever I tried, even rebooting the computer didn't help.
I decided to uninstall and reinstall and than it really went wrong. Installing is not possible anymore.
- I connect the player to a USB port and turn it on.
- Windows recognizes the player and the wizard comes out to install a driver.
- The wizards searches (and finds) a suitable driver.
- He starts installing the driver
- The process ends with: Error, The installation failed because a function driver was not specified for this device instance
I really have no idea what driver is meant, since he already found a suitable driver, and of course that one is not installed, because exactly that's what I'm trying to do. I tried it with the "build in" Win2000 driver and with the driver on the CD rom that came with the player, but I always ends with the same error. (I have a feeling that this "function driver " is not the same as the driver I'm trying to install)
I tried to install the player on my roommates computer (also Win2000 prof) and everything went great and workes fine there. Anyone knows what could be wrong?
Somebody asked me to check my hardware profile to see what's in my "USB section" and I found there 2 more things: Intel 82371 AB/EB PCI to USB uhc and: USB roothub. (Whatever that may be
) I was told that it was ok.
