Hello,

I have been trying to get my headphones work on the front ports of my case. They are not being detected but when I hear from them I can hear the sound playing. But it is not showing up in the audio manager. Also I have stereo speakers connected in the rear sound port. I have downloaded the latest sound drivers of my motherboard.

Both the headphones and speakers play together.

My computer spec's

I5 2500k 3.3ghz
Intel DH67CL MB
Corsair BS 600w psu
normal stereo speakers (usb powered)
CM elite 311 case
Nvidia Gts 250 1gb

My case:

I don't have access to that mobo with Realtek ALC 892 chipset, but my mobo has the Realtek ALC 887 chipset, so I might be able to help.

In the Realtek HD Audio manager, under "Device Advanced Settings", I have the following options:

(x) Mute the rear output device, when a front headphone plugged in.
( ) Make the front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously.

Under "Connector Settings", I have the following options:

( ) Enable auto popup dialog, when device has been plugged in.
(x) Disable auto popup dialog, when device has been plugged in.

Sorry if you already know this

There are 2 different wiring standards for front panel audio. You gotta make sure the case and MB use the same standard...

the options are same as what you have said. @anonymouseUser

I didn't know that. How do I see if they are the same or different standard? or have I wrongly inserted the wires in the MB? @lakedude

Some cases have the older wiring standard "AC'97", and some have the newer standard "HD Audio" or "Azalia" (same thing). Some cases have both sets of wires.

Your motherboard likely uses HD Audio, so make sure that connector is connected from the case.

I have found that I have to go into Realtek control panel, and "Disable Front-Panel Jack Detection", (which essentially forces front-panel audio on), in order to use my front-panel jacks.

There is also usually a BIOS option to choose which standard the front port uses, so check your BIOS as well.

I changed the bios option to auto but still no difference. I found out that I have lost the option to " disable front-panel jack detection " in the Realtek control panel after the bios settings tweak.

Also I do not mind if they do not show up in the control panel but atleast when my headphones are connected it should stop my speakers playing too.
