Front Row / External Hard Drive tips?

So I learned that you can make an alias of a folder on your external hard drive, move the alias to your movies folder on your computer, and then Front Row will show the alias in Movies.

This is great for me, I have too many files to keep on my macbook pro.

Are there similar ways to handle iTunes and iPhoto libraries?

Not that I am aware of. I do know that you can also use reference movies if you have Quicktime Pro. The advantage to them is that those can be added to iTunes for streaming purposes, whereas aliases cannot be added to iTunes.
