I have a mac mini that I've been using as a media center pc for over a year now. On the whole it's been very capable (better even than my ps3 for picture quality). The only thing is I recently upgraded the audio connection to toslink from analog only to discover that front row/quicktime can't output 5.1 channel sound.
VLC works, and the remote can be used to play/pause and enter/leave full screen, but I'm not aware of any way to use the remote to browse my media collection the way I can with front row.
Are there any alternatives to front row that will allow me to browse my collection using the remote and output 5.1 channel sound?
