Front ports USB 2.0 compatible?

Hi, I found another thread asking the same question, but didn't see an answer. I have a front USB port adapter made by Antec that is pretty slick -- converts a 5.25 bay to a 3.5 bay plus 2 USB ports. My question is whether those ports would be compatible with a USB 2.0 motherboard. Anyone know?

If they don't say so in the specs then probably not. USB 2 needs better cables to support the high transfer rates than USB 1.

If the Antec USB ports up front aren't USB 2.0, they will fall back to USB 1 even w/ a USB 2.0 MB 🙂

Yes they should work just fine...There is an article at www.directron.com/ that deals with USB connections...It is a very plain, simple easy to understand article that you might find helpful...I have a Antec Plus1080AMG case and the Asus A7N8X Deluxe and my have them connected to the USB header off the motherboard...and yes my friends external USB2.0 hard drive works @ 2.0 speeds...or so he seezzz...

Does that mean my Lian Li PC-60's front USB ports are USB 2.0 compatible?

This cant be because the socket connectors are different for 1.1 and 2.0.

Am I correct?

I just purchased the Antec EasyUSB kit yesterday. Had been thinking the same thing too. Is it USB2 compatiable???

Per Antec's website:

Q: How do I connect the EasyUSB and firewire/USB ports to my motherboard?
Our EasyUSB and USB port on the case are both 2.0 compliant, meaning that they will work to up 2.0 speed. Furthermore, they are compatible with any motherboard with USB headers.
The installation of the EasyUSB and USB port from the case to the motherboard is very similar. Check this link for the color code chart of each wire:
