Front panel USB connector

I built my first computer. I reused a case from a broken Compaq computer. I've pretty much got everything working fine now, but I haven't hooked up the front panel USB jacks yet. The compaq case uses a ribbon connector that looks like this: USB Front Panel Connector. I have no idea whether this will be compatible with the motherboard. Is there a chance that it will fry the motherboard if it's not compatible, or will it just not work? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Here are my components:

Biostar Tforce 6100-939 mobo
Athlon 64 3200+
Corsair Value Select 2 x 512 MB DDR400 CAS 2.5
Maxtor Diamondmax Plus9 160 GB ATA/133
NEC 3550A DVD burner
LG CDRW drive
Sparkle FSP300-60THA
Old case from Compaq 7110US

My guess is it shouldn't hurt the computer. It's not alot of power going to the USB connectors so I don't think it would fry the board . Although I don't think it would be compatible. Compaq has always made alot of their stuff proprietary
