I'm building a spanking new computer for my friend and I'm stuck right now. But I can't figure out how to plug the front panel connectors. I have a MSI 845E Max (MS-6566E) board.
"The mainboard provides two front panel connectors for establishing electrical connection to the front panel switches and LEDs. Users can choose either JFP1 or JFP2. Both JFP1 and JFP2 are compliant with Intel Front Panel I/O Connectivity Design Guide."
JFP2 Pin Definition
1 - GND
2 - SPK-
3 - SLED
4 - BUZ+
5 - PLED
6 - BUZ-
7 - NC
8 - SPK+
JFP1 Switch/LED Front Panel Electrical Connection
1 - HD_LED_P (Hard disk LED pull-up to +5V)
2 - FP PWR/SLP (MSG LED pull-up to +5V)
3 - HD_LED_N (Hard disk active LED)
4 - FP PWR/SLP (MSG LED pull-up to +5V)
5 - RST_SW_N (Reset Switch low reference pull-down to GND)
6 - PWR_SW_P (Power Switch high reference pull-up to +5V)
7 - RST_SW_P (Reset Switch high reference pull-up to +5V)
8 - PWR_SW_N (Power Switch low reference pull-down to GND)
9 - RSVD_DNU (Reserved. Do not use.)
I have 2 different set of wires for what I believe is used for this.
The first set has 8 wires:
2 black wires with the numbers 1 and 2 respectively and "GROUND" written on them
2 red wires with the numbers 1 and 2 respectively and "+5V" written
2 white wires, same as above, but "-D" written
2 blue wires, same, but "+D"
The second set has 4 more standard wires
Power Switch
Power LED
HDD LED
Reset Switch
They are all 2 pins wide, except for the Power LED which is 3 pins wide (I think it's the Power LED that is 3... I forgot to write it down)
So what do I plug where?
