Front pads, Rotors and Calipers, + Rear Pads and Rotors and 120k Service for $1200.00

Parts for the brake job I would guestimate at ~$400...not knowing the car.

2 calipers ( ~$100each)
4 rotors (~$30 each)
2 sets of pads (~$30 per set)

does that sound like a lot?

Rotors $30 x 4 $120

Pads $30 x 4 $120

Not sure on cost of Calipers or rebuild kit but guess would be $30 x 4 $120

Plugs $2 each, Cap & Rotor & wires $100 , Filters $15, Oil$15

Labor $90 hr x 8 hr $720

Plus tax

Yep $1,200

for 1000 i could get this:

new front rotors - brembo blanks
new pads for front
new shoes for rear
new clutch
resurfaced flywheel
new water pump
new oil pan
new spark plugs
valve adjustment
oil change and new filter

for a 98 honda civic

My oil change supplies:

Oil: 5 quarts Mobile1 $20.00
Filter: Honda OEM $8
Drain Plug Washer: Honda OEM $.50

These prices you guys are quoting are pretty low-ball.

Rotors will cost $50+ each.

Pads come in sets, so you only need 2-sets. 1 Front 1- rear. $35+ each

Rebuilt Calipers are anywhere from $50 - $75+ per caliper.

If your driving a low-production auto like a BMW, MBZ, Cadillac, or sports car expect much higher prices.

www.partsamerica.com will list all your prices. I wouldn't expect more than 4hrs labor to do all of this.

The only problem with partsamerica is the rebuilds can be pretty sh!tty. Mechanics typically use much higher quality rebuilds.

FYI, the price of calipers at least can vary considerably with the type of car. My old Civic's calipers were more than $200 each.

Does this fall under the Capt Obvious catagory? 😉

Some people don't have the time, skills, space, tools, or whatever to do it.

This is for my Olds Intrigue, 6 yrs old, 120k miles.

it doesn't seem outrageous to me. it's not dealership, (dealership would probably be more).

i'm not unhappy with the price.

Please understand a 120K mile tune-up doesn't just mean spark plugs and wires. This could be a 120K service which could include the following items.

Oil & Oil filter
Lube Chassis
Rotate Tires
Inspect Brakes
Inspect Suspension
Air Filter
Inspect Drive Belt(s)
Transaxle Service
Replace Spark Plugs
Cooling System Service

I'm not trying to justify the cost of these repairs but there is too little information in the OP to make a fair assessment of the charges.

are they REPLACING the rotors, or just resurfacing them?

For a domestic car that old that price seems ridiculous.

I paid $350 to have front rotors and pads installed, before I learned to do my old stuff. Why are your calipers being replaced, anyway? On the other hand, if this is a long-overdue brake job it is possible there is major damage to the braking system.

Call around to see how much other places charge.
