I've got a Frigidaire Gallery front load washer, not sure of the model but it looks like this. It's an older model but they are still made, although marketed under a different name. I'm not sure if the internals are the same but from the outside they appear to be the same unit. My unit is a 2001 I think, I picked it up second hand in 2006 for a C note.

Basically the unit doesn't spin anymore. I haven't taken the thing out of the laundry room yet (real PITA to maneuver out) but it's on my to do list for Saturday. Does anyone know if these are belt driven like top-loaders? I'm hoping perhaps the belt had just come loose. If it's the tranny I think I'm toast. The pump, feeders, timers, etc still work, just no spinning action. D:

Open it up and look.

It worth fixing if it is not leaking from the drum (front loader drum are expensive to replace, and some seals aren't replace able).

Excellent! Thanks. Found a PDF that basically told me what I needed to know about the belt system. I'll be tearing into it on Sat.

Glad to have helped. That's a pretty good site populated with some very helpful people...

Not sure how much this helps, but I have helped my father with two Frigidaire front loaders that have stopped spinning. Both times it was a safety lockout failure. The only front loader I have ever owned was a Maytag, and it gave me no trouble.

That said, it seems the door lockout on these Frigidaires is excessively complicated. There is a way to bypass the safety and make the thing spin, or you can replace a ~40 dollar part and go about your business. There are other candidates as well, but the fact that we are dealing with Mexican made parts, and similar failures in similar models makes me think my input might be helpful.
