Front license plates

I believe they're required in California.

Google > you

(B) The person understands that California law requires a license plate to be displayed from and securely fastened to the front of the motor vehicle and that the hardware necessary to securely fasten the front plate is available from the dealer.

depends on the state

this is a repost

if the state issues them, they are required . but enforcement varies. i have been in MO for 5 years and my front plate for my saturn is still laying under the passenger seat. but i haven't been pulled over in that car yet for anything else.

yea my liscense plate and it's frame thing are sitting in my trunk. I just woe the day someone pulls me over about it 🙁

You could just not attach them, then come on here and be an e-badass when you get ticketed and tell us how much cops suck.

Are front license plates required in Southern California?

Aboslutely. Certain locals (especially those with red light cameras) tend to enforce that alot. Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, (the west side in general) is enforcing it pretty hard. I got a parking ticket in Santa Monica (which I shouldn't have gotten, I can park for free at meters 😉 ) and the officer wrote for the front plate too.

It's a $25 fix it ticket, but if you do fix it they charge you about the same for an inspection to prove you fixed it. Either way your out $25. (Well, usually, I got that one ripped up by the supervisor when I convinced him the first ticket wasn't legal, therefore the second one wasn't either)

Whoa, that's a serious overreaction. If your car is ugly because of a license plate, it was already ugly.

????

Natural gas and electric cars can park for free at city meters in LA and Santa Monica.

If I were to drive a CNG car, it'd be a Ford Crown Vic.

What do you drive?

QFT.

Or the designers are idiots that cant design a car that looks good with a numberplate on front (which most countries require).

Do you really want to have a car desinged by idiots?

As an Oregonian(and as a result, someone who grew up with front plates always required) I have to ask: what's the big deal some of you have about putting them on? It can't just be cosmetic, since most cars come with a space for them anyhow.

I didn't think they were required either here in Chicago, but three years ago I got ticketed for not having a front license plate while my car was parked in front of my house. 🙁

Better safe than sorry I guess.
