is there something i can buy so that i can plug my headphones and mic from the front of my computer instead of going into the back and unpluggin/repluggin in my speakers? its such a p.i.n.t.a. the thing is too, the mic and heaphone wires are on teh same cord and split at the end for like 2 inches (i have a headset) so they have to be near each other otherwise i cant have both plugged in. any ideas or suggestions?

Yea, try the Enermax Front Transfer Panel at Newegg (about $16). Note that if you hook up everything: USB, firewire, gameport, etc, the case will seem pretty cluttered :p

I like mine though. I bought it mainly for audio out, actually.

Well, I've seen 5.25" drive bay audio solutions (I assume your case lacks the requisite ports on the front), but that's somewhat dependent on your sound card having headers for external outputs.

Personally, I had the same problem (without the mic) and just used a 3' miniplug extension cable from radioshack and ran it up to my desk, then plugged my headphones into that. You can do the same for the mic. There's probably a small amount of signal loss, but it's not going to be something you'll notice while gaming. You can use a stereo miniplug splitter if you want to have the speakers and extension cable plugged in at the same time.

Also, I think the acronym you're looking for is PITA, as PINTA, AFAIK, is one of the ships Columbus sailed on. :p

On a somewhat related note, does anyone know of a front panel that does at least USB & Firewire, but uses internal connectors instead of requiring the loopback from the rear?

If you use the Enermax one with a mobo's USB header, it'll be two-piece, but it'll connect via header. That's what I'm doing right now.

I noticed that too...thanks for saying it first (although following your logic, PITA is what I make wraps with...)
