G'day

Does the free offer of replacing Win 7 with Win 10 apply to a change from a 32 bit version of Windows 7 to the 64 bit version of Windows 10 ?

I plan to fresh install Windows 10 from the media creation tool using a USB drive. When the tool was beginning, I un-selected " use recommended options " which had selected 32 bit under " architecture" and selected 64 bit. The tool asked me to ensure the version I chose was consistent with the edition of Windows I am using-32 bit. If not then I will need a product key to install .

I have a x32 key but wonder what this is about . If I wanted the x32 version I need no key ?

And it does not say the key is to activate but " to install ".

Doesn't make sense.

Will a fresh install from x32 to x64 be free using the a Win 7 x32 bit key ?

Thx,

The Product Keys for Windows since Windows 7 work for both 32bit or 64bit.

To do the install, use the media creation tool, select 64-bit media and use the key when needed

Correct, but I have to be a dork and point out that this actually goes back to Vista and Server 2008.

Sorry, lol.

Yeah, could not remember if it started there or not, my mind was blank on that.

Don't worry. No one is going to think less of you for it, and in less than a year no one is going to care (Vista eol is April '17.)

Use your 7 key and clean install 10 x64 before July 29th if you've never upgraded and activated 10 before and enjoy.:awe:
